Signage Illustrations for Glacier National Park

In 2026, Claire Loon Baldwin completed a series of 7 illustrations and a map for wayside signage in Glacier National Park, Montana.

 

Claire collaborated with park communications staff, and incorporated feedback from park scientists to ensure accuracy, while also imbuing the work with expressive, wonder-evoking qualities that communicate and engage visitors of all ages and backgrounds. These illustrations measure 12x18 are were created with watercolor and ink.

 

The final work combines interpretive storytelling with scientific visualization, and includes illustrations of mycorrhizal fungi, different biodiverse ecosystems, and a wide variety of flora and fauna identification.

The signs will be installed in by spring of 2027.
